How do we plan for the next 100 million citizens in this country? How do we determine policy for urban and metropolitan development? Can we strategically plan for change, address diverse community needs, create public participation, or link knowledge to collective action?
Urban planners address these complex and critical questions every day. They preserve and enhance community life, protect the environment, promote equity, and manage urban growth and change. They also skillfully assess, and communicate the social, economic, political and environmental consequences of development alternatives as a means to improve community life and the environment.
The Department of City and Metropolitan Planning at the University of Utah is vibrant community of students and faculty concerned with exploring, research, and effecting the planning and development of our cities and the built environment. We welcome your participation in our academic programs and in our quest to plan for the next 100 million.
